I think it varies. Some owners do some maintenance on their properties - others don't.

thanks Ron. In this case the problem is that a bedroom light is not working because the wiring from the wall switch to the light has failed.

Or the light bulb needs to be replaced.
Most of the time a wire came off the screw inside the switch or from the lump holder.

Generally who is responsible for electrical wiring repairs.
Usually the renter but check your rental contract (you do have one, don't you?)

If your "electrician" thinks you have a problem in the ceiling, he may well be right. Maybe rats are chewing away at the wiring up there!

Unless your rental property is of the very fancy villa-type, repairs should usually be quite cheap.

Normally, it's the owner that manages any fault in the rented house. It's part of the renting contract if you signed one or something. You can call on the attention of thhe owner and ask for assistance about it I say.

I have found that renting in Indonesia has two things I am not used to:

    1. The owner is not interested in any complaint and puts the onus of repairing on you.

    2. The tenant does not care about the property they are renting because it does not belong to them

Either way it is not good. Make sure who does what is in the contract.
    Regards Jimbo
