Hi...I'm sure opening a bank account in a Nominee's name would get all the "be careful" tags. Aside from that, I'm wondering what, if any ramifications it might have for the Nominee? (Taxes or....?) For example, does the Nominee have to explain to anyone why and where the money comes from in "their" account? Can someone transfer 20, 50, 100 million Rp to this person's account - no questions asked? Just wondering....

Nice thought but this is Indonesia - nobody asks where the money comes from or is going to. and there are no ramification for the account holder - that I am aware of, most people here pay no taxes anyway so it's really not a problem from that end.

Markit buddy...""get your nominee to open a bank account in his name and give you the checkbook, and ATM card (and the pin number too of course"" just thinking outloud, and hopefully not applicable in your situation...but what's to stop a nominee of going to the bank, saying I've lost my ATM-card/checkbook and balance book, could you please block them, and issue new ones to me? And whilest I (the nameholder) am here, before you block them could you be so kind to transfer 'X' amount to 'xxx' account, using his KTP as identification?
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)

Nothing, absolutely nothing will stop your nominee from cheating you.

But as I said in my original post Gil, if you are going to trust your nominee with you property why choke at a bank account?

just thinking out loud again...trusting the nominee, maybe because with the property there are contracts made up, and if no contracts...maybe the value of the property is less then what's in the bankaccount...

Then either your property was too cheap or you have too much in your bank account

Trust someone else with your bank account? Not even my wife has that and I trust her completely.

Have to agree it's not a good idea, you never know what might eventuate. Your nominee might suddenly find they need to "borrow" your money that is sitting in their account.

Who knows there might be a medical emergency or other unforseen event. Once the money is gone you might never get it back.

Best thing to do is to deposit it in a lawyer's trust account imo.

If you trust her "completely" why not with your money? Is there some definition of "completely" that I don't know about yet?

Maybe "Completely Not!" or "Completely, not at all really!" or "Completely" with everything except money?

I trust her completely but her views on money are different to mine. I can say no but she cannot.

Giving someone access gives them the right to use it as they see fit. Not a good idea in my opinion.

As an aside my wife can have every single penny as after almost 27 years of me she has earned it :D
    Regards Jimbo
