Yes, it is as Bert said above.

I have it in my "possible moves" file.. hahahhahaaaaaaaa.

just on a side note, talking about shares/stocks, I lost 43,000 AUD in AAA rating subprime collapse.(so much for ratings).
when it came time this year to do my annual tax, I almost fainted seeing that it was not considered a loss and i have to pay higher tax than I expected.

It seems the problem is that the wording on the paper work was "unrecognised gains".

I said to my accountant, yes "unrecognised gains" alright, someone gained and we dont recognise who, but it certainly was not me, you will have to put me in Jail before i pay this.

:P so you might be posting from behind bars soon Chilli.... So Peter does leases, rents etc? Cause the way i read indo law, ownership (hak milik) is only possible by indo citizen.

    Yes Jimbo,

but my issue is not only the loss, but to be taxed on it as if this loss doesnt exist, is salt added to the wound.

im sure there are many others in this situation who are protesting this absurdity.

Ill keep you posted to an outcome.. its interesting to say the least. !

Does anyone have websites (apart from rumah123 ) that i can access and look at properties for sale in bali. I have looked at balitopproperty, balirealestate, etc but they tend to cater for the hi price range villas which are out of my price range. I am after normal houses, dont need to be new, but be solid built. I like to do some renovations myself  , so even a bit run down is ok Thanks

    I am after normal houses
I would forget about looking for them on websites then. When I was looing a while back everything I found on a few sites, was obvioulsy aimed at foreigners and priced accordingly.

If you want a normal house at a normal price best to wait until you are here and have a look around. The first place I rented in a BTN was a normal house, and cost me 7.5 million a year. He was offering it for sale for somthing like 60/70 million (the cost of a years rental in for many places) One house I saw was massive, and very unusual only 17 million a year but needed some work and I didnt now the area and felt it was a bit isolated for me. Another house brand new was 25 miilion per year but wanted a 3 year contract. I know these are rental prices but it gives you an idea of what you can find if you look for yourself.

Thanks Mimpi, http://www.rumah123.com is very good, if you sift through all the expensive ones, there are a few normal, cheap ones on the market. Was hoping for someting similar to rumah123. As i said to Chilli the otherday, seems to be more and more of the cheaper ones online now than before. Maybe a sign of the economic crisis kicking in
