Some New Pictures of the Rumah/house/hut/panzer emplacement
Things are really beginning to look serious now and what with the work on the roof coming along nicely I thought it was about time to catch up on the photos too. Couple of shot of Selat and the big boy (Mt. Agung) in the background, not off subject cause I went up there looking for bedeg that wonderful woven/plaited bamboo which everyone ignores but can be sooo beautiful if done right.

The place is really starting to come along. I did notice however when my friend was building his villa, that the final finishings and painting really dragged on forever. I remember when he did the roof construction and tiles, that was done in just a couple of days.

That's what I keep being told "calm down, it's got a long way to go still" but that's ok. I'm having fun!
That's the main thing. I can imagine some people get really stressed about it. I want to start some kind of project this year. I don't know whether to start something brand new or buy something that just needs some renovation work. Whatever I do, it won't be on the scale of your project.I'm having fun!

I am a regular visitor to Bali from Australia, an ex builder and have a real interest in tropical architecture.
Found the photo story really interesting as I am interested in securing a property in Bali. Any advice, comments, etc either on-list or via email would be much appreciated.

The idea of the Mata Hari really inrigued me so. I never thought of that idea as more abstract and philosophical. I read about it in a blog article.
