    Default Burglar Alarm System

    Hi all,

    I know this issue has been raised in the past, however not with the answer I am seeking....

    Beginning of next month, I am moving into a new home here on Bali. To keep my nights peaceful, I would like to install a burglar alarm system. Do you know of any company here on Bali that does that?

    Thanks for your help, much appreciated!

    Get iron for your widows and if you can bear it a dog or geese. Alarms are a pain in a tropical country always being set off by insects or small mammals.
    As you probably know infer red or lazer alarms are the most effective, all crap for the above reasons.
    Have you seen the size of butterflies and cockroaches here?

    Thanks Mat, yes I know infrared would be a problem in this climate. However I know there are quite sophisticated systems out there which differentiate between a person or just an animal. I heard passive magnetic field detection does that and some others

    I would have thought with so many huge villas here on Bali there would be tons of companies selling security systems...

    Maybe a business opportunity.
    Most people use a Satpam. {security, and cheap}

    I'd be interested to know how you got on with the burglar alarm. With reasonable difficulty, I've just managed to get a few companies out to my villa in Canggu - and the quote for my requested two infra-red [IR] monitors, siren, key-pad and minimal wiring was consistently above US$650 - with one in at $800. I've just purchased a relatively good wireless IR system [I hope] via a well reviewed 'super seller' on eBay for about US$130, with three IR units, an auto dialer, key-pad, twelve wireless magnetic door trips - and siren, of course. It's on its way from the US. With the concerns up above about IR triggering a succession of false alarms in the tropics, and not wishing to disturb my neighbours - heaven forbid my narcoleptic security guard - any suggestions and wisdom, should backup be needed in the coming weeks, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks and stay safe.
