    Default Kantor Cipil, registering Birth

My son was born 1st of July in Prima Medika. Now I am trying to register his birth with the Kantor Cipil. Due to my wife and I only being married "bawah tangan" (un official) I was informed that my son cannot take my surname.

I was told that the only way around it, is for my wife and I to register our marrige properly and then present relevent papers to Kantor Cipil.

By the time I get to reigistering his birth It will have surpassed 2 months, this is due to me currently working away.

    My questions,

    1. What are the implicationsof not having registered with KC before 2 months. Is this just another buerocratial hurdal I have to jump?

    2. Will KC recognise marrige certificate post birth?

Help and advice is much appreciated

No problems. Get the roomah sakit bersalin to register with your name as the father and also any religious institute. You can change it later with the KC.

Also might be a good idea to register that you are the father with your consulate as you may well need to prove that at a later date if you decide to take your wife home with you.
