    Default The Water in Majorca....

haha - actually not Majorca but Bali.
When I cam to visit last year, we ended up spending a lot of money on water, buying packs of 1.5 litre bottles of mineral water. This is very expensive and not at all condusive to our budget.
    What is the alternative?
Here in Bangkok, they have R.O machines where you pay a penny a litre and can refill your bottle up at the side of the road.
We tend to get through approximately 10 litres of water a day. Thanks!

10 litres a day? How many people?

The cost of bottled water in Bali is not expensive at all. When you say "bottled mineral water" which brand are you buying? You can buy an Aqua Galon which is about 20 litres for around Rp12,000. That is very cheap.

10 litres is for two people. It includes all the water that goes in the kettle, plus we drink a lot of water to keep hydrated.
Do you know what size bottles does aqua galon come in?
I thought maybe there would still be a cheaper way of buying water as that is still nearly 50p a day, but is better than what we were were paying before.
Is there any way to get those really big bottles delivered?

    Thanks x

    hi

there are different suppliers , normally every warung will deliver if you pay them little bit extra.

The aqua galon water is good drinking water and i use it for cooking as well. but for dehydration, it can not be used as it is not mineral water- it contains no minerals( clorids, Calcium, Nitrates, magnesium, sodium etc.).

we normally drink Aqua water and all persons also drink half a liter mineral water a day.
also a cheap and delicious anti dehydration drink is the juice of a young green coconut( 25 cents one coconut).

    kind regards

A 1.5 litre bottle of Aqua will set you back 2500rp - 5000rp, roughy 25 - 45US cents per bottle depending on where you buy it, where I'm from bottled water costs more than $2. My girlfriend always calls me cheap, wait till she sees this thread lol.

They do have the refill stations around the place, they are much cheaper. I myself would be a little scared to try them. I mean who is doing the quality test on these?

The Aqua Galon is I think about 20 litres.

Well I guess, if they weren't up so standard, your belly would let you know soon enough!

Are these refill stations located all over Bali? I use them in Thailand and Malaysia and I have never had any problems. I am not bothered about having 'mineral' water just clean water will do!
