Default Expat social events and associations?

    Hi all,

I am moving to Bali in June and I’m a newbie to this site but I have been reading many posts and have been learning as much about Bali before I move there June 30th.

My question - are there events or social clubs in Bali for those of us who wish to network and communicate and get ideas about how things work in Indo??

I am Australian and I would like to meet other expats when I move there.

    Thanks,
    Anzac

    Hi Anzac,

so I guess moving means you gonna live & work in Bali? There are some expat groups meet in restaurants & villas from time to time, for a lot of reasons: collecting some money & contribute to society (rotary projects, give as much as you want) having a good chat while you enjoy good food & have some beers and of course meet old & new people, working on your network...

You can send me a PM here if you´re interested to get more info

    Regards

    Marc

Hey there Marc thanks for your reply,

At this stage I'm just going to holiday in Bali for six months and learn my partner is living in Legian and has an apartment there so my accomodation is already sorted.

My partner also organises visas and tour's and is working for a company that supplies these services so my visa is ready and I'm really looking forward to relaxing for a while.

I'm thinking that I can help her setup her own business I'm writting a website for her and hopefully we can generate some work for her and maybe I can get a business visa through her.

The expat meeting's are of great interest to me and I would love to hear more about them hopefully you can provide more information.

But at this stage I need a holiday and my partner has organise a six month single stay visa.

    Thanks again chat soon.

    ANZAC.

    Hi Anzac,

so you´re in the IT Business in OZ? there´s always a need for capable guys here, but competition is tough almost everywhere....Bali as a working expat has NOTHING similar with Bali as vacationist sad truth...

    Regards

    Marc

Possibly one of the quickest ways to meet a wide variety of both expats and locals would be to go to a Hash House Harriers' meeting ("run"). I don't know about Legian but there are active groups in both Sanur and Ubud. A quick search should get you to their website.

Otherwise, for Sanur check at The Wicked Parrot (Jalan Danau Tamblingan) or Naughty Nuri's Warung in Ubud (opposite Neka Art Museum).

As I observed in this forum, you can actually set a schedule for meeting ups with other expat just posting a nice invitation in the forum like some members do.

Just a question on the hashing - is there much of a scene for the HHH over there? I'm looking at spending a couple of months over in Indonesia, embedding for a work project, and it sounds like a great chance to get into the pace of things and avoid as many of the questions you've all been asked a few million times now :)

I was two weekends ago in one of the trekkings around rivers, ricefields, mountains, rivers, ricefields, village..............it was a really really challenge and very beautiful to "run", quite dificult sometimes, a lot people there, local and expats I guess and a lot visitors as well, fun to try and probably a way to meet new people!!!
I think it is a real way to know the countryside around all Bali!!!
