Thread: Best value on Poppies?

OK, I can remember some names. In Poppies 1, Kedin Inn is well known, has been there for years, is often pretty full, but give it a try. Some info here

and nearby to it there are other similar places - Bali Sandat 2 is just behind it and very similar.

These places are offering low prices, and I would not expect much discount for longer-term stays - but you can ask. For me, fan rooms are OK, and air-con is not really needed.

I have not found any of these places to be noisy, and mostly the rooms are large and clean. Both Poppies Lanes are congenial places to stay with plenty of cheaper cafes, bars and convenience stores. If you have a car - parking may be a problem at some of them - but for motor-bikes, no problem.

Great, thanks for the tips! Just the kind of answer I was looking for. I will probably stay there as long as needed until I can find something longer term.

Are there any good alternatives to this for 3-6 month stays? In Kuta, near the beach, that is. While renting a room in someone's home is an option, I prefer more privacy.

Great tips again, thanks. I can't believe how cheap it can be to stay in Bali. I have been in Asia for years and I don't think there is a better value anywhere. I figure I can pick one from the list so far and if I don't like it, keep moving about until I find one I do like.

If some very eager person with experience in Bali would do a post about some of the terms regarding housing, it would help a guy like me a lot. I have searched for the meanings of words like kost and kosan...now I see kost kosan....I really have no clue what these mean!

I would suggest you book a hotel for a few days and then have a look around at your options for a longer stay. Negotiating face to face on a long term stay once you have seen something suitable should also get you a better price.
