    Default Advice on costs

    Morning everyone,
Just wondering if anyone may be able to give me some ideas on what some items cost and whether what i have been offered is reasonable.as i am new to all this "expat" stuff i am a little worried.
I have been offered a house(3 bedroom 2 bathroom) in kerobokan near the AIS for 45 million IDR per year the house is unfurnished, no cooking facilties or fridge or aircon and non furnished......is this normal? and a reasonable?

Also if it is reasonable how much would i be looking to pay for

    fridge
    bed
    cooker
    tv
    aircon

    Thanking you in advance

    Hi Belle
Reasonable maybe, depend on the state of the house, should be in good condition. The location it is VERY- VERY- VERY BUSY, lots of traffic and noise.
If you don’t need to be in Kerobokan you can find houses cheaper then 45.000.000

    All quote are More/less
    Fridge 2.200.000
    Bed (solid wood) 3.500.000
    Bed (ordinary) 1.900.000
    Bed Room 8.000.000 with mattress
    Cooker (just 2 rings) 270.000
    Proper cooker/ oven) with 4 ring 5.300.000
    Gas Cylinder 500.000 (with gas)
    Gas Re-fill 75.000
    TV (many typestyle) 40” 800.000 Bigger 2.900.000
    Aircon 3.000.000-3.600.000 (1/2 PK= 5.000 BTU) for rooms 9/12 m²
Washing machine LG (cold water only, top load) 2.300.000

    Hope this will help

You could also take a look at Courts which seems to be fairly cheap looking at their catalogue.

I first bought furniture from Courts when setting up in Bali as it was only meant to be a temporary arrangement. The quality is not very good and 3 years on most of it is or has fallen apart. I have found I can buy decent wooded furniture for the same or less.

Actually I buy my wooden furniture over that way at 111 Furniture on Jl Mertanadi. Very close to the prison. They are very reasonable, dont start ask for silly prices. Some ideas of what I have paid

2.7m sofa including mattress and cushions 2.5 million
    Large chest of drawers 800,000
70cm wide bookcase 700,000 (Full height)
70cm wide bookcase (half height) 400,000
70cm wide cupboard with magazine rack 450,000
    2 seater wooden bench Rp400,000

Dining tables start at 1 million and dining chairs at 250,000.

I love this shop and step by step hope to replace all my furniture with stuff from here.

    thanks everyone.....
ok so i have heard from a few people that there is cheaper around, so is it really as easy as and more beneficial to have a look whilst in bali when i come in february??
lumumba i dont necessarily need to be in that area in fact i would much prefer sanur or around there.
At the moment i plan to stay in a guesthouse for a while with my daughter which is quite reasonable at 2.2 million a month...without the worry of utilities costs...and is looking like a far better option for now.
The prices provided seem quite reasonable.Mimpimanis 111 furniture sounds great thanks

    thanks belle

    Belle-

Unfortunately I cannot add to the advice on the costs of items, but I can suggest you look in Sanur for housing. As I have stated in my post "Affordable long-term housing in Sanur", I recently moved in to a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house for 15 million per year. And as a bonus, I signed on for another half year in order to get the place furnished. So for a grand total of 22 million, I have a 3 bed, 2 bath house, fully furnished, 2 brand new AC units to enjoy for the next 18 months. My advice would be to come to Bali and try and talk to some locals. Talk to every local you come across about housing, and I am very confident you will find what you are looking for.

    Good luck!
