Default good experinece opening a bank account

Finally, and after having looked at the website of most local banks, I have opened an account here in Bali. First I went to BCA, waited for 20 minutes, then left. One of 4 service counters staffed, "taking a number" pretty irrelevant. Then went to Bank Mandiri, same story, left after about 20 minutes. Ended up at the Commonwealth Bank. Great service, whilst I was there, I found out that it's possible to transfer from my Indonesian rupiah account into my Australian account by internet banking, no waiting at the branch, and no fee. Also got my ATM card on the spot. Overall a pretty good experience! And no, I don't work for them

And the ATM card works (without charge) at BCA, BNI, Mandiri and others in the Bersama group. So while there are not so many Commonwealth ATMs - its not a problem.

But there are advantages to ATM cards from other banks. For example, you can pay Indovision using an ATM card from BCA, and you can pay for Lion Air tickets using and ATM card from BNI.

You can also pay Indovision with BII & CIMB Niaga ATM cards.

You can pay for your water via atm?? I asked and was told no!

Rather than go into the bank in Kuta (which we dont know where it is) we pay out water late - because then we can pay at the office in Jimbaran - however we can not pay there if we are on time

Unfortunately for power we are on a prepaid meter so have to buy credit for it in advance and this is only available from Kuta and Denpasar.

ehm..if I am not mistaken when at the atm, when pushing other transactions there's also a PDAM (water) button...will check tomorrow :) , when paying the indovision.

yeah, funny how that is...when on time not possible to pay there, when too late with the penalty added it's possible I'm spoiled..water and electricity I pay at home...beats taking a number and waiting for your turn at the office.
so for the electricity 'pulsa' you go to the PLN office?

Yes, usually the one on Sunset Road near Carrefour. But we have been caught short before on a Sunday and the one in Denpasar opens for an hour or two in the afternoon.

I tend to by it once a month and more than we need so that I don't run out when it isnt possible to buy more.
