wow, that's a move in the right direction - things do change, just very slowly! :o
The Jakarta Post is reporting that VOAs can now be extended for another 30 days and the 1 week visa has been scrapped.
Foreign tourists visiting Indonesia can now extend their visas-on-arrival for another 30 days, as of Jan. 26, the Indonesian immigration office announced Monday.
Prior to this, foreign tourists were not allowed to extend their visas-on-arrival. They had to leave the country to get a new visa.
In the new ruling, the immigration office has decided to scrap the seven-day visa-on-arrival. The office will now only issue visas for a 30-day stay at the rate of US$25, extendable for another 30 days.

Not really. Years ago the VOA was for 60 days. This is just a way of getting an extra $25 :(

year and years ago you didn't need a visa - them were the days!
How and where do we get visa extension.Already planning on leaving for one night then coming back this will be heaps cheaper and less hassle. :)
Fisherman, according to information in this thread on extending a VOA in Bali you need to do it at the immigration office near the airport. If you want to save the hassle of doing this, I am sure any agent will be able to handle the extension.

Thanks Spicyayam, can you reccomend anyone? :?
They all offer pretty much the same service for pretty much the same price. I would just choose someone who is close by to where you are staying. The Bali Advertiser newspaper has a few companies advertising their services.

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry! We phoned our work visa agent yesterday to find out about the extension of the 30 day VOA, no worries, they can do that. Oh great, so how much does it cost? Rp 1.600.000  When I told my Indonesian colleague who had spoken to the visa agent that the quoted amount was ridiculous, as the original visa only costs US$25, I got absolutely no reaction. I just can't believe this - has anyone else been quoted a price for the extension? I don't need one since I am on KITAS, but it would be good to know.
So another pongy raisin for all visa agencies to fleece tourists. Nice idea indeed :evil:Oh great, so how much does it cost? Rp 1.600.000
