Default New airline servicing Bali - Perth

Strategic airlines is starting a new service from Perth to Bali and is scheduled to start in June.

The first flight to Bali (Denpasar) is scheduled for 12 June 2010 (subject to regulatory approval) with tickets selling via the airline's website from A$99 all inclusive one-way.

Strategic Airlines’ head of commercial Damien Vasta said that the airline's entry into this market would provide a unique service offering to WA air travellers.

“We will offer Perth travellers the option to fly to Bali with a full-service product at affordable prices – a combination that has not been available until now,” said Vasta.

Strategic is an Australian-owned and operated full-service airline, with its head office located in Brisbane. For the past nine years it has operated as a charter airline, but has recently expanded its domestic commercial route network. This included the launch of its commercial service from Perth to Derby, catering for fly-in fly-out (FIFO) customers in the resources sector. It is planning further local expansion as early as April, including the introduction of a second A320, as well as operations into many FIFO airfields.

It is subject to approval which basically means this.

Each airline has to apply to get permission from both govts to get landing rights, and then they may be allocated a certain number of seats if there are not enough seats on that route by other carriers. When there are code share agreements or subsidiaries it's easy (like when V Australia started flying to Fiji seats were taken from Pacific Blue then given back when it was realised flying large planes on that route wasn't profitable)
When the airline is starting from scratch it's not so easy. Qantas/ Jetstar, Virgin, Garuda and Air Asia may have taken up all the allocation already.

It could be a good start to encourage more flights in Bali. Especially for those peak years for tourist visits.

More from Melbourne would help as I'm sure you would agree.

We're the poor cousins when it comes to number of flights to Bali.
