I checked my LP guide and it says the only camping ground on the island is at the headquarters of the West Bali National Park at Cekik, and only useful if you want to trek in the park and you have to bring your own camping and cooking gear.

Also about fun things to do in Bali, it really depends on what you like doing.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.

Bali is a small island, only 85 Km from north to south and 145 Km from east to west. There are about 3.5 million people so you don't find wilderness camping areas like you could in Texas or Australia. One web site (bali.skynet.be) says
There are no official camping sites on Bali or Lombok. Backpackers are not now welcomed on Bali, and although "random" camping in open country is not officially prohibited it is frowned on. There is however, plenty of cheap accommodations available outside the tourist areas, for example in homestay, losmens and penginapans.
However, if you have time, Indonesia has many uninhabited islands, but visiting them is not high on the agenda of most tourists. You can find them by hiring luxury cruisers - see: Indonesia Cruises for example. And, if you can get there on expensive boats, you could also find inexpensive boats to take you there if you have the time and patience to seek out options.
Please let us know what you find out and where you decide to go - even if its not Bali.

I found this topic interested (I mean talking about the West Bali National Park), all these years so many spanish people has been asking me about the WEST BALI NATIONAL PARK and I never know what to say, because in 10 years I never met anybody who has been there or know somebody who has been there!!!!
Have you ever been there or know somebody who has been there?
Could you tell us something about this Park? is really open? is interested? has places to sleep? has trekkings? how many hours could be the trekkings?????
It is funny because on the map, looks quite big and usually I never hear people talking about this place.
About funny things to do, depend on what is fun for you!!!
I will recomend you to do rafting, the scenary is amazing and really really worthy (usually two places, Ayung river and Karangasem, the level in Karangasam I think is higher).
    Learning surfing
    Cycling
trekking the batur or agung volcans
trekkings on the ricefields or bedugul area
    diving in amed and tulamben
uhhhhhhhh I am not sure if this could be fun for you but interested I think so!!!
By the way I never hear neither anybody doing camping in Bali, only I hear some students from some school does around Bedugul area, but not tourists!!!
Homestays, penginapan and losmen like mention before it can be a beautiful and interested experience (at least for me has always been).
whatever you will do, have a good time in Bali!!!
    have a good day!
