    Default expatriate/mixed couple

    Hi there,
I'm balinese and my husband is british, we live in UK now.
We are heading off to Bali end of july for holiday, wonder if any of the expatriates/mixed couples are there at the time?
Thought it would be nice to meet up and share experiences..
Sorry if this is a wrong topic to ask, just trying to get more friends :?

    cheers,
    indie

Indie! A not comon name for a Balinese. Sure, lots of mixed couples would like to meet you and your "hubby." But how about a few lines of Bahasa Balinese first? Phonetic spelling is fine, so don't worry about that.

This is not a challenge, rather, we just all want to practice!

    Hi Tom/DrIvEr??,
I think everybody will find it hard to be away from family, specially in the a strange country.
I still find it hard now but getting a bit easier i suppose, after a while I get use of this country, having a job help me alot as I'm busy everyday, no time to think and miss my family too much.
"Get into" the UK people was hard, specially when there werent anyone introducing me to "the new environment" in the 1st place. however I get by, 1 thing I learn, I HAVE TO make a move 1st to make friends, i guess UK people cant resist pretty balinese smile :)

Your Balinese language is excellent, even I cant speak that well, honest!
I was born in Sanur, originally my father from Negara, So i would say asal tiang dari Negara, tapi besar di Sanur.
This July is my 1st time back home since i arrived here 2 years ago.

Have any friends with a Balinese wife/husband in bali right now/during july-august??

    cheers

    Om Swastiastu Roy
very very shocking to learn many 'bule' speak very excellent balinese languange. Saya bukan sombong pakai bahasa inggris, just thought everybody will understand it better. Tiang besar di sanur, uli cenik bape-meme ngajahin berbahasa indonesia, dadine bahasa bali tiang kaku, tusing bisa 'bahasa bali halus' terutamane.

Tom, Tiang demen pisan malajah bareng2, ampurayang lamun wenten salah matur nggih..
Is your fiancee from singaraja? are you in bali now?
When I arrived here, a part from friendshipness, I found language was a problem as well, i do speak english and i still find it hard to understand english speaking people, specially when they talk very fast.
Weather wise as well, winter is very boring for me, cold and miserable, night feel like forever. Food!! Some of my Indonesian friends find it hard to get use of eating western food everyday. hm..whats else?
Put it this way, prepare yourself to see her demanding and miserable site. When she get a grip of the new environment, I'm sure she'll be herself again :)

Mimpimanis, I'm in Cambridge. I just found this forum 2 days ago. I wish I found it earlier :)
Do you have any plan to go to Bali at all?

I doubt we will be in Bali, even passing through en route to Lombok I cant wait to get there as quick as possible.

Also we will be opening our homestay, so I anticpate being very busy.
Made pops over from time to time to visit his family but his mum has been staying at our place for the last few months so I doubt he will even be going for a family visit.

On the other hand if you pop over to Lombok, look us up :D
