    OK, mileage
Managed to download and hear it. Maybe my download manager was only saving the php link.

Are they your five (?) favourite chords, or something? A bit heavy on the "chorus pedal", wouldn't you say?
Mate, if I was sent something like that to "add to", I wouldn't know where to start. Swingin' shouldn't be in the title, that's for sure.

I'm sorry, but it definitely wouldn't make Bali Idol. I wonder what Pak Made Cowell would say? Sure, I can understand that it might be a "work-in-progress". Lot's more "work" needed.

I see it like this: You went to a considerable amount of trouble to come up with the progression, record it, convert from WAV file to mp3, then upload it for all to hear. That's great and all power to you! We all have to start somewhere.

Like Bert, those chords evoke zero for me in anything to do with Bali/Indonesia.

    Two minor "suggestions":

    (1) Unless you're a budding jazz musician, throw away major sevenths, 9th chords, whatever, unless they're integral to the composition.
    (2) Throw the chorus pedal away, or at least, set it differently. Best used like a spice. Too much spoils the dish.

I know we haven't met personally, yet, and hope we can stay friends. I'm an "expert" on two chords, (or is that now three?), but when I play them, they're very strong and focussed. At least , so say those around me, unless they're pissing in my pocket (quite possible).

Pardon any perceived "cruelty" on my part. Hard but fair, (I hope).
Knock Knock Knockin' On Bali's Door

    No problems Sanurian,

For me it was about evoking a feel..... cruizy, relaxed, simple..... Just like my time in Bali.

Now, money where yer mouth is! give me a sample, I'm sure you have a self-recording around somewhere.....

    :)

    oh, and to clarify,
Your not meant to add to that one, it was just a short melody that came to me. I couldn't even tell you what notes they are. I often build melodies from singular note samples on a laptop. I also build them on a guitar too, or bass, keys, drums. Master of none, but keen.....
The 'swingin' refers to the action of the hammock, not the genre.
I'm more into post production, adding sounds and samples that I think suit a melody. So if you have any melodies, vocals, squeelin' licks, I can expand on this. Not conventional, I know, but that's my deal.
Are you spitting at the thought of that much processing?..... Probably.... ha ha.

I just sent you a PM.

I'll stick something of "mine" up here soon, if Bert allows it. Otherwise, I'll put it somewhere else with an appropriate link.

I figure that because I've been living in Bali for >10 years, anything I come up with must have some relevance. Well, my Balinese rocker friends think so.That's a start.

    :D

Looks like it's just you and me, mileage, so far.
    I did warn you.

So - Where are the expat muso's?
(I probably shouldn't say this but Bert is a great whistler. I've heard him!)
