Default fruit trees - any luck??

    Hi Kel

I'm having similar issues finding fruit trees. Did you have any luck??

There are plenty of orange trees available anywhere up the mountains. Just find an orchard and ask someone there. If they don't, someone nearby will have trees in plastic growbags. Oranges are easy!

But other fruit trees - difficult.

As far as stone fruit goes - you won't grow stone fruit successfully in Bali. Maybe on the sunny side of Kintamani (MAYBE - and only then with highly specialised low-chill varieties), but DEFINITELY not in Canggu! Stone fruits need a chilling period.

Please let me know if you had any luck with sourcing fruit trees.

    Corey

a friend brought ours over and another friend got it started in a pot, he brought it over in his hand luggage without a problem i believe just took cutting from his tree in aus and got through then used rooting powder to get going in pot growing really well until pups chewed it so not so good now, but our friends is growing very well and is even fruiting.

doesnt seem to be a problem bringing them out just taking stuff into aust.

I put the dried seed of dates in a pot,and yes,it is developing into a datepalm.
Do not know where the dates came from ,so i do not know if the sort is suitable for this climate.
I will let you know in a year or ten.
Lime is easy to find, lemons not sure. There are specialized traders that sell fruit trees or shrubs, ask around in your area. With bananas be sure to select some that you like, there are so many kinds. They can be rather ungainly in your garden because of big dead leaves.I agree with the others, better stick to tropical fruits.

They have a whole city named after the fruit you're after here Rob - it's called Mangis and guess what the main product of that city is????

Bingo! Mangis, or as you know them Mangosteen.

I have just found a place on the bypass road to Nusa Dua selling fruit tress etc, only new, big green sign saying go green phone number at the bottom. Its on the left side coming from kuta just past the jimbaran turn off lights at ullawatu 1. Didnt get a chance to go in but they had pics of lots of different fruits, might be worth a try. I'll try to get in soon and let everyone know.
